Apple has released a patch for its Garageband app on MacOS after it was revealed that a vulnerability in how the software handled .band files left Mac users open to remote exploits. The update to Garageband 10.6 (CVE-2017-2374) is being rolled out to all MacOS X Yosemite v10.10 users and it is advised that even those who don’t use the Garageband app should install the update since Garageband is installed on MacOS by default and it only takes the user being tricked into opening a hacked .band file for the remote exploit to be executed.
